COVID-19 Staying at home, pre-existing conditions, high risk patients and more...
If you think you might have coronavirus or you’ve been in close contact with someone who has it visit NHS 111 online coronavirus service for advice.
Well-being while staying at home
Staying at home (self-isolating) can be difficult, but it’s important to stop coronavirus (COVID-19) spreading to other people.
If you are eligible then help and support is available with everyday tasks from an NHS volunteer responder. They can help with things like collecting shopping, medicines and prescriptions.
Visit NHS Every Mind Matters for advice, practice advice and support groups.
If you cannot wait to see a doctor and feel unable to cope or keep yourself safe, it’s important to get support.
Videos to Support Colleagues and Patients
PHE have developed the following videos to encourage people with SMI to have the Covid Vaccination.
- Getting the COVID-19 vaccine: Personal experience guide for people with severe mental illness, Part 1.
- Getting the COVID-19 vaccine: Personal experience guide for people with severe mental illness, Part 2.
The videos have been developed by Public Health England in collaboration with Equally Well UK and NHS England, including GP professionals and Expert by Experience. They provide useful information for people with SMI to know what to expect from the vaccination process and how to prepare before their appointments. They also provide information for primary care professionals to better support people with SMI in their areas.
Equally Well UK have also produced a guide for people with a diagnosis of severe mental illness to support them with their vaccination, which can be found via their website.
